Inspiration
Seeing how much a Bike Share system in DC alleviated congestion on roads, we wanted to help Bike Share Hawaii implement the same idea but with some improvements.
How it works
Our implementation of Bike Share Hawaii leads you to a HTML file where both businesses and users are able to log in and help balance the flow of traffic. Tangible incentives including reduced meals, tickets, drinks, healthy activity - are used to encourage the use of bikes that will counteract the usual flow of traffic.
Challenges I ran into
Finding the perfect algorithm that will establish incentives in places beneficial to the balancing of traffic flow
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Being able to help Hawaii take not only her first and last mile but her first bike ride to a healthier, cost-efficient, and adventurous way of life.
What I learned
Hackathons are a very fun and supportive environment for developers. Definitely an event to mark my calendar for!
What's next for BikeShare implementation
Hopefully implementation with real businesses and users utilizing a multi-face app.
