Commuter Assistant makes your daily commute easier by providing real-time crowd-sourced information such as traffic jams, road hazards, accidents, etc. The information is entered by users of the app, which becomes visible to other users in close enough proximity. Users also get notifications when incidents are reported.

This allows app users to have more useful information to plan their daily travels.

Commuter Assistant does not currently engage the Open XC platform as it is a Windows Phone mobile app (not supported currently), but in the future, there is a lot of potential for the Ford platform to provide the real-time feed without the need of app users entering the information. For example, if a car is involved in an accident and the accident is in the travel path of another user, the app can be fed that data from the Open XC platform automatically.

Commuter Assistant can provide a lot of value to its users, but the future of the application is limitless once the Windows Phone can become compatible with the Open XC platform.
