Activa was born as a direct result of problems and challenges encountered by its founder: The pain of selling Paybox Germany’s mobile banking solution to Banks. When Paybox was acquired in 2009, the founder together with his team of developers set out to fix the following problems:

(i) Very high license fees, customization and integration costs, etc. charged by mobile banking vendors –(leaves out thousands of smaller community banks & credit unions.)

(ii) “Siloed” data & systems (multiple channels that are disconnected or “do not talk to each other”) As such, profiling and gaining insight into customer’s channel preferences and behavior is challenging.

(iii) Additional channels “bolted on” to legacy platforms -banks struggling to offer a joined-up approach to servicing customers.

(iv) Long sales cycles

(v) Mobile banking Vendor needs to integrate with the core banking system of the bank –which can take anywhere from 9 to 14 months. Then has to connect the delivery channels -SMS, USSD, IVR, GPRS, Internet, etc. to the local (a) Telco’s (b) Utility billers, (c) merchants plus various 3rd party systems such as billing gateways, ticketing systems, government payment systems amongst others which can take more time.
