The downing of communications after natural disasters is a major detriment to victims as well as rescue workers. The lack of the ability to communicate makes coordination between both parties nearly impossible, negatively impacting relief efforts. Victims aren't able to locate safe zones for aid, and responders have no ability to organize with survivors in a widely dispersed disaster area. SafetyNet is a system created for both of these parties. It makes use of widespread smartphone technology to cast a local emergency network that can assist survivors with locating aid, and help rescuers better coordinate relief activities. The feature that we are most proud of is the overall user experience of both the mobile and web applications.
