Inspiration

We were inspired by location-based social networking apps such as Waze.

How it works

Users can select a category and view user-submitted nearby points of interests, such as restrooms and showers among others. Users can also submit locations and vote for their favorite hotspots, as well as comment on others' posts.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing the Google location services API was particularly difficult, as well as back-end integration.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We managed to make a functional and useful app that actually runs written in a language we had no real experience with.

What we learned

We learned that although it takes a long time to produce an app of this nature, the benefits far outweighed the difficulties.

What's next for SCU Hack For the Homeless - OpenDoor

Fully integrating comments in this app, and more apps to come.
