Tennessee Property Viewer

Over the past ten years, the Tennessee Base Mapping Program, managed by the State of Tennessee, Department of Finance and Administration in partnership with over 250 local government departments and the Comptroller of the Treasury, has sought to create large scale GIS base map layers to support a wide range of government functions at the local, State, and Federal level. Access to the statewide GIS base map layers are available through the TNMap portal and in particular the "Tennessee Property Viewer" application. This tool provides access to local government property assessment information within a GIS map-based environment and is available to anyone via the internet. In addition to the State provided content, the application also integrates other federal GIS data layers, including FEMA's floodplain maps. The ability to view, identify, and analyze property assessment information in conjunction with floodplain maps provide home owners, lending institutions, realtors, fee appraisers, land use planners, building officials, and other local government officials with critical information to improve public safety, manage land development effectively, mitigate risks, provide equitable insurance, and in general, make better decisions that affect the quality of life for all Tennesseans. Through the development of statewide mapping and database standards and a complex system of data replication among local and State government agencies, the property assessment information accessible through the "Tennessee Property Viewer" is updated monthly for approximately 3 million parcels of property.
