Solution: White listing – The opposite of a “Blacklist”, a whitelist is a list of only those phone numbers that will ring-through to the target phone, all other calls would either have a unique ring for easy call screening, or not ring at all and be transferred to a whitelist voicemail with an announcement stating that the phone is white listed and the caller is required to provide a valid telephone for a callback. If the capability is implemented by a Phone Service Provider, local area emergency service phone numbers would be automatically added to each subscriber’s whitelist. It should be the prerogative of the subscriber to decide what additional unsolicited callers (i.e. political parties, charities, healthcare providers) to add to their respective whitelist.
