TL;DR

We made an app to crowdsource short book summaries in a more efficient way than Sparknotes.

Inspiration

As second semester seniors, we know how to cram school work. While cramming for reading quizzes, Sparknotes is too long. So...we made Sparknotes for Sparknotes. For years, seniors everywhere have been burdened with senioritis and those that have actually read the books look for other sources to understand their reading better. The problem was, there was no source that gave us the main message of the book without drowning us with unnecessary details. To fix this problem, we made TL;DR. (TL;DR: Too long; didn't read)

How it works

The app opens up with a list of books; clicking on them brings the user to a menu featuring each chapter. Clicking each chapter pulls up a short TL;DR summary along with a longer more in-depth chapter if the user wants more information. There's also YouTube videos to supplement the words. Users can also submit their own summaries by emailing us from the main menu.

What's next for TL;DR - When that book is just too long.

In the future, we want to bring TL;DR to the whole web. We want to summarize news articles, wikipedia posts, and maybe even YouTube videos. Maybe one day, TL;DR will be the cure to procrastination.
