Vrniture is all of the selection of IKEA in the comfort of your own home.

"I don't like how that table looks over there."

"Yeah, wouldn't it be great if we could move it around... in an Oculus or something?"

"Oh [REDACTED]."

Our friends had just moved into their new apartment in Venice, CA. Given the limited space, furniture placement was a huge hassle. We wished there was a better way to experiment with the furniture without any heavy-lifting.

So we made Vrniture, a digital solution for collaborative interior floor-planning. Using an Oculus Rift and Myo armband, home owners and interior decorators can manipulate everything about the furniture in their home. The Oculus gives you a true-to-life way of exploring your space, while the Myo lets you cycle through furniture options with the flick of a wrist. When they find just the right set-up, they can purchase all the items within the application itself.

Vrniture runs entirely in a web browser with WebVR support (the latest Chromium and Firefox Nightly builds). We use the Kimono API to scrape listings off of IKEA, and integrate a fully-functional checkout process through TwoTap. The designs are viewable and editable in a collaborative environment between the designer and the home owner, powered by Firebase.

Gone are the days of schvitzing while arranging and rearranging your room—welcome to the future of interior design.
