Using currently existing technology such as Shazam, a smart phone app which is used for identifying songs by means of simply holding your phone's microphone up to a radio speaker & waiting a few seconds for it to listen & compare the song's unique soundwave pattern to its database, this can exploit the digital fingerprint of a recorded message, most likely in MP3 format, thereby adding it to the block list after a single call. Further calls, even by different phone numbers, can be recognized & blocked, each one added to the ever expanding database which is automatically shared with the network which is constantly updated, helping everyone with FiOS digital phone service. All can be done through Verizon's Central Offices' equipment. No new in-home equipment necessary. Basically it's a software upgrade, possibly with liscensing from Shazam.
