FluidMath enables the user of a Tablet PC or Interactive Whiteboard (IWB) to create, solve, animate and explore math and science problems either on the screen of a Tablet PC or on the screen of an IWB all in their own handwriting as if working with paper and pencil. FluidMath’s pen-based approach empowers educators and students to more effectively incorporate technology into their classrooms. FluidMath breathes new life into mathematics education by making student notebooks and classroom whiteboards come alive. Hand-drawn diagrammatic sketches and handwritten mathematics notations automatically become interactive illustrations, thus facilitating intuitive mathematical exploration from a dynamic visual perspective. With national attention on performance in math and science, FluidMath promises to capture and inspire a broad audience of math and science students by making sophisticated mathematical and physical reasoning as lively as cartooning.

The Research and Development of FluidMath was supported by funding from the National Science Foundation, the National Institutes of Health, and the United States Department of Education.
