The Telephony Spam Blocker (TSB) is a messaging server that communicates with the carrier’s telephony switches during call initiation. When a switch receives an event to set up a call, the switch sends a message to the TSB verifying that the origin, destination, and time of the call are valid. If the TBS deems the call is valid, the switch will continue with a standard call setup; if the TSB returns an invalid call, the switch can reject the call. Rejecting a call at the switch level reduces the carrier’s load of processing unwanted phone calls and eliminates the destination from receiving theses annoying phone calls.
