People make bad food choices during business travel because it is all that is readily available. Stale pastries at break. Fried mystery meat on a toothpick at a reception. The net result: returning home sluggish and 5 lbs. heavier. Instead use the Feed Me app to find food options during business travel, especially conferences and conventions, to prevent weight gain, to eat right to maintain the energy levels needed, and to adhere to any dietary restrictions or health needs.

Most conferences are “food deserts” and most attendees neither have a car with them nor have the time to traipse around an unfamiliar city looking for food. Feed Me uses your smartphone’s GPS, information provided by hotels, restaurants, stores, and exhibitors, and user-generated information to inform conference attendees of healthy options easily available.

Feed Me is a standalone app, but it can also be integrated into the apps that conferences increasingly provide for session selection. Hotels, restaurants, and stores can provide information about their food options in advance and, as attendees try them out, they can rate or comment on the food selections. Exhibitors can note any food they provide, which encourages them to offer fruit and other healthy choices (unlike APHA11 where almost every vendor had Halloween candy) to draw more people to their exhibit.

All information is dated to stay current. As more people use Feed Me, hotels, restaurants, stores, and exhibitors have a strong incentive to provide the food options that people are seeking: fresh fruit, salads, etc. Furthermore, Feed Me makes suggestions about foods to bring from home (that will not cause problems with airport security) to keep in a hotel room. It also finds healthy options at the airport.
