This is a new variation of my STU (Selective Teletransfer Unit) I invented (and was featured on national TV) in 1995. As the inventor of the one phone number for all concept, this was originally a solution to eliminate multiple phone numbers for landline, cellphone, fax, auto phone (!), home, office, etc. You only have one phone number foe home and cell. STU allows normal callers to reach you on either a landline OR A CELLPHONE while hanging up on autocallers, faxes, and any other automated caller. Because it works on both landlines and cellphones and is as easy to hook up as an answering machine, and can be made inexpensively, it is unique. Unfortunately for me, I was 17 years too soon in 1995, although I have been using my STU since 1995 and would be in dire straights without it.

STU-II will be a modern design, since many parts (like the voice chips) are no longer available today, and STU required an answering machine. STU-II would use modern MP3 files and would include the answering system.

So how do these two work? STU plugs into your landline and your answering machine (old STU) or STU-II answers quickly before your phone rings. It has a message for your callers that can be as easy or discriminatory as you want to limit your callers. For example, a message like "press 3 to continue your call" will allow any human to reach you, while "enter your passcode" would only allow family and friends through. STU-II rings your landline and after four rings, assumes you are mobile and uses 3-way calling (like the original STU) to call your cellphone, then joins the calls together and waits until all calls are done, then hangs up. Because your cellphone is unknown to everyone except STU and you, your calls remain under your control.

See my website page http://eds-inc.com/about.html for a video of me on TV describing STU 1n 1995. There is a picture of prototype #1 in the video.
